Ana Maria Merico
Ten years ago, I embarked on a life-changing journey that led me from the vibrant desert landscapes of Tucson, Arizona to the captivating beauty of Mexico. Enamored by its enchanting vistas and steeped in the rich tapestry of Mayan traditions, I chose this land to call home. With a career spanning two decades, I proudly retired as a tenured law professor from the University of Arizona College of Law, specializing in Constitutional Law, federal civil rights law, and litigation courses. I traveled the world teaching and speaking about different subjects that impact equality and education. I enjoyed mentoring students as well as participating in multiple volunteering projects designed to empower disenfranchised and vulnerable communities.
This passion for making a difference drew me to the welcoming embrace of the Seaside Rotary. As I reflect on my journey, I am overjoyed by my choice to join this dynamic group. The blend of cultural immersion, dedicated service, and the camaraderie of the Rotary community resonates deeply with me.
In retrospect, my voyage from academia to cultural exploration has been enriching and transformative, allowing me to embrace new traditions while continuing to serve with the same fervor that defined my years in the academic realm.
