On October 26, the Rotary Club Playa del Carmen Seaside hosted its 1st annual Seaside Rotary Golf Classic at the beautiful and challenging Grand Coral Golf Club in Playa del Carmen. Dozens of golfers and volunteers braved inclement weather and hit the links to raise funds to support the Seaside Rotary’s ongoing projects and initiatives in the community. 

The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside, with a network of Rotary partners in the United States, has an opportunity to arrange for a shipping container load of medical equipment and supplies, with an estimated value in excess of $400,000 US Dollars, to be donated and shipped to the new Red Cross Hospital in Playa del Carmen.

With the coordinated efforts of Seaside Rotary’s Playa del Carmen RC and Rotaract, Kicks4Kids brought almost 300 pairs of new sneakers to the children living in the remote village of Nuevo Noh Bec. It was a long and at times emotional day but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the big smiles on all those little faces.

The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside is delighted to once again be invited to the Cancun Challenge Basketball Tournament hosted by Hard Rock Riviera Maya!

Thank you to all the players, parents, coaches and fans who have contributed sneakers to our drive!!

We will be here all week collecting sneakers for Kicks4Kids and supporting our friends at The KKiS Project as they collect school supplies for our region’s neediest children!

Every year, volunteers from the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside partner up with KKIS (Keeping Kids in School) to distribute school supplies to students in local schools. This year was no exception and this week, we convened at the KKIS offices to pack 152 bags with school supplies which we will distribute to the children at Cristo Rey Secundaria at the end of August.

The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside held its 3rd Annual “Yappy Hour” Dog Parade and Costume Contest on Sunday, October 30 at the Central Park Plaza in Puerto Aventuras. The judges’ results are in. The event was a tail-wagging good time and a rousing success, with dozens of people and their canine companions coming to participate in the contest, vote for their favorite “Top Yapper,” or just watch and enjoy the show!

For many children in the Yucatán Peninsula, access to dental care is limited, with some receiving their first-ever treatment only when volunteers step in. This April, Global Dental Relief (GDR) is returning to Akumal with a dedicated team of dental professionals and volunteers to provide free, critical dental care to local school children.

The highly anticipated 9th Annual Riviera Maya Chili Cook-Off brought the heat once again at Restaurant Latitude 20° +/-, marking the eighth consecutive year at this beloved local venue. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside, the event gathered chili fans from near and far for an afternoon of fiery flavors, friendly competition, and community spirit—all in support of the club’s local charitable initiatives.

On El Día del Niño, celebrated in Mexico on April 30th, a group of Seaside Rotarians will be making a trip to El Cuyo to bring a delivery of arts and crafts supplies to the children of the village. Would you like to
help? Donations of all kinds of supplies will be collected at La Vagabunda 38 in Playa del Carmen, Colegio Puerto Aventuras and at Restaurant Latitude 20°.

Recently, Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside helped Global Dental Relief (GDR) bring smiles—and vital dental care—to underserved children in our community. From a temporary clinic set up in Akumal GDR’s volunteer team of dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and general volunteers provided free treatment and preventative care to local children and parents, many of whom were receiving professional dental attention for the very first time.

Each year on April 30, Mexico celebrates Día del Niño (Children’s Day)—a holiday dedicated to the joy, well-being, and rights of children. This year, members of the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside marked the occasion with two heartfelt outreach missions, spreading cheer to children in both the village of El Cuyo, Yucatán and the General Hospital in Playa del Carmen.

It is with deep sadness that the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside announces the passing of John Robert Klug, Jr., an Honorary Member of the club.

John was deeply committed to Rotary International, serving actively in both the Denver Rotary Club and the Seaside Rotary Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
