The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside is proud to have been selected as the beneficiary organization for the inaugural Paamul Art Show & Sale, a new cultural event that exceeded expectations and demonstrated the power of community collaboration, creativity, and generosity.
Held over the weekend of December 13 and 14 in the coastal community of Paamul, the two-day event brought together 18 local and regional artists showcasing original works in painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media. Despite inclement weather, hundreds of visitors attended, purchasing numerous original art pieces and generating meaningful financial support for Seaside Rotary’s ongoing community initiatives.
A Community-Wide Effort
The Paamul Art Show transformed the neighborhood into a walkable open-air gallery. Artists opened their homes and studios, while several newly built houses—generously made available by Paamul resident and master builder Karl Rourke—were converted into pop-up exhibition spaces showing off not only the art but also the beautifully designed homes.
Beyond its cultural impact, the event had a clear philanthropic purpose. A portion of all art sales during the event was donated to the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside, directly supporting the club’s work with children and families across the Riviera Maya. Seside Rotary members were on hand throughout the events, greeting event attendees, assisting the artists and directing guests throughout the day.
Supporting Rotary’s Mission
Since its charter in 2012, the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside has focused on practical, high-impact projects in education, health, and basic infrastructure. Programs supported by the club include:
- Feeding the Future, providing daily meals to children in marginalized communities
- Clean Water Projects, installing filtration and solar-powered systems in rural schools
- Kicks4Kids, supplying proper footwear to children in need
- Medical Equipment Initiatives, delivering essential hospital equipment across southern Mexico
Funds raised through the Paamul Art Show will contribute directly to these efforts.
Looking Ahead
The success of this first edition has sparked conversations about hosting future Paamul Art Shows in early 2026, potentially in February or March. Seaside Rotary is grateful to the artists, organizers, volunteers, and community members who made this event possible and who demonstrated that art can be both a cultural bridge and a force for positive change.
