It is with deep sadness that the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside announces the passing of John Robert Klug, Jr., an Honorary Member of the club.
John was deeply committed to Rotary International, serving actively in both the Denver Rotary Club and the Seaside Rotary Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Inducted as an Honorary Member of Seaside on June 11, 2019, John was instrumental in securing resources for providing essential medical equipment and provisions at the Red Cross Hospital in Playa del Carmen (Cruz Roja Mexicana, Delegación Playa del Carmen) in 2014.
Finding success with this coordinated project between the Rotary Club of Denver, Project C.U.R.E. and Seaside Rotary; John, along with Doug Morgan, spearheaded an ambitious project to provide six entire truckloads of medical equipment & supplies for six separate hospitals within Mexico (Big 6 Project)
We will miss John’s friendship, initiative, kind-heartedness and dedication at Seaside Rotary. To quote John’s own words (The Rotarian, July 2019), “You can do the most unbelievable things, if you just set out to do them.”
