With the coordinated efforts of Seaside Rotary’s Playa del Carmen RC and Rotaract, Kicks4Kids brought almost 300 pairs of new sneakers to the children living in the remote village of Nuevo Noh Bec. It was a long and at times emotional day but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the big smiles on all those little faces.
This is the first delivery of the holiday season for Kicks4Kids. These shoes came primarily from donations from Bob Hyde and Trish Youngstrum and their fellow Rotary members at RC Vero Beach Florida, the players, parents and coaches from the Cancun Challenge and personal donations from Seaside Rotary members. Seaside Rotarians also generously donated dozens of new soccer balls for the kids to play with!
Our big collection time is just beginning as snowbirds and vacationers flock to the warmth of the Riviera Maya! I hope this inspires you to tuck an extra pair of new sneakers (or maybe more than one pair) into your luggage before you depart. Sneaker donations can be dropped off at Wah Wah Beach Bar, Don Chendo Restaurant and the BRIC Hotel. Thank you to everyone who has been so generous with us so far!
