Every year, volunteers from the Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside partner up with KKiS (Keeping Kids in School) to distribute school supplies to students in local schools. This year was no exception and this week, we convened at the KKiS offices to pack 152 bags with school supplies which we will distribute to the children at Cristo Rey Secundaria at the end of August.
In total, within the next few weeks, The KKiS Project will pack and distribute nearly 3000 bags with school supplies to help locals kids start the school year off right! These contributions help ease the burden on local parents who struggle to pay for the required uniforms, books and school supplies required of each child attending school.
Keeping Kids in School has provided thousands of students with school supplies and made the impossible POSSIBLE for hundreds of children who, without support, would not be able to continue their studies through high school and beyond.
Seaside Rotary has had a close relationship with KKiS for many years. We contribute grant funds to purchase school supplies at the beginning of each scholastic year. Our club also provides money for scholarships supporting several students every year as they navigate their way through high school (preparatoria) and then on into university.
KKiS has helped us to identify new schools that need help outfitting classrooms. They also help us to coordinate deliveries of sneakers for our ongoing Kicks4Kids sneaker drive and generally act as a conduit through which Seaside Rotary sends help where help is needed the most.
